Projects and Initiatives

Since its inception, CHISOM has been dedicated to implementing inclusive interventions to support orphans and children in Mpigi.

Basic Education Support

Enabling orphans and disadvantaged youth to access and complete primary education, with significant achievements including 759 children enrolled and 80% of primary school graduates advancing to secondary education.

Health, Food, and Nutrition Security

Addressing household poverty and food insecurity through nutrition support, including the distribution of sweet potato and amaranth seeds, and training in kitchen gardening for caregivers.

Child Protection and Economic Strengthening

Enhancing the well-being of children and caregivers by providing vocational training, supporting income-generating activities, and fostering community resilience through Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs).

Program Evaluation

Our nutrition support and health education programs have directly addressed malnutrition and improved reproductive health,

Educational Impact Assessment

Over the past three years, CHISOM's education support program has enabled 759 orphans from households to enroll in and complete primary education in Mpigi District. This intervention has significantly improved school attendance and completion rates, with 80% of the students advancing to secondary education. Evaluations indicate that 60% of these beneficiaries are girls, highlighting a positive shift towards gender equity in education.

Vocational Training and Employment Outcomes

The vocational training program has empowered 164 young people, 92 of whom are female, with skills in brick-laying and hair-dressing. Follow-up assessments reveal that the majority have successfully entered the workforce, demonstrating the program's effectiveness in enhancing livelihood opportunities and economic stability for these individuals.

Economic Strengthening for Caregivers

CHISOM's support for 152 caregivers through Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) and small-scale livelihood projects has fostered economic independence and resilience. Feedback from participants shows increased income and improved household conditions, underscoring the program's role in mitigating household poverty.

Nutrition Support and Food Security

The nutrition support project, initiated as a COVID-19 recovery measure, addressed severe malnutrition among 37 children identified through assessments. The distribution of sweet potato planting materials and amaranth seeds to 27 households has led to improved food security and nutrition, with 50 caregivers trained in kitchen gardening demonstrating enhanced self-sufficiency.
